Reinstatement - Sun Life

Important Notes:

  1. Policyowner shall pay all the outstanding premium to reinstate the policy.
  2. If it is a monthly paid policy and the autopay set up is invalid or policyowner wants to set up autopay, the Direct Debit Authorisation Form is required. Policyowner shall pay additional two months premium before the autopay is effective.
  3. Once policy lapsed, must submit PCI (Personal Certificate of Insurability) to reinstate, not only for lapsed 366 days, and please be reminded that only allow to reinstate within 6 months from lapse date.
  4. Reinstatement is allowed within 6 months from the policy termination, if the termination occurred due to any of the following situations:
    (a) Any contributions due during the MCP remained unpaid by the expiry of the Mandatory Contribution Grace Period available for such contributions payment and therefore the policy was terminated.
    (b) The Policy Value became insufficient to cover Monthly Deductions due when some contributions due during the Mandatory Contribution Period were unpaid. All such outstanding contributions during the Policy Insufficiency Grace Period (of 31 days) are requested to be paid. Upon the expiry of this Policy Insufficiency Grace Period, all due and unpaid contributions during the MCP were not paid back and therefore the policy was terminated.
    (c) The Policy Value became insufficient to cover Monthly Deductions due when Contribution Holiday was active. As a result, Contribution Holiday ceased and we requested to resume contributions payment within the Policy Insufficiency Grace Period (of 31 days). Upon the expiry of this Policy Insufficiency Grace Period, contribution payment was not resumed and therefore the policy was terminated.
