Reinstatement - Manulife

Important Notice

1.There are two types of reinstatement:

a. Reinstatement without charge in policy year date

b. Re-date reinstatement-one with change in policy year date

2. Interest will be charged on premiums outstanding for more than one year

3. Reinstatement is allowed if insurability requirements of the insured are met

4. For the reinstatement of" Follow Me", the request should be within 6 months from the lapsed date and the eligibility to exercise Catch Up Option will be deferred by 5 years which subject to the conditions stated in the Catch Up Option section

5. The application should be submitted within 15 calendar days (including the public holidays) to SOD after client's signature date.(Updated: 29 March 2016)

For Reinstatement without Change in Policy Year Date, it can be done within 3 years after the date of lapse

Checklist

1. Application For Reinstatement / Statement of Insurability ([U1])

2. Copy of policy owner's HKID card/passport

3. All outstanding premium plus premium interest, if any

4. New Direct Debit Authorization, if applicable

5. Enough advance premium if auto pay is to be set up

6. A copy of the quotation from AWS

7. CS eform

For Re-date Reinstatement:

It is allowed if:

1. Policy lapsed more than 12 months and less than 3 years

2. No re-date reinstatement has been done for the policy before It is not a contractual right of client

It is not a contractual right of client

1. No re-date reinstatement will be accepted for retired products (re-pricing products) under the old manual

2. Re-date reinstatement is only allowed for basic plan, but not for riders

3. No re-date reinstatement for investment-linked policy

4. No re-date/reinstatement for Inflation Protector Option (IPO)

Under some circumstance, Manulife may not allow the change. Insurance advisor/client should obtain a quotation before submitting the change request

5. Charge fee, if there is change in insured's age on the new policy year date
